Dr. Ravichandra Davargaon, Ph.D.
Post-Doctoral Scholar
Ravichandra, after earning his Master’s degree in Life Science, worked in Ranbaxy Laboratory (Biologics Division) Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, India, where he was involved in process development and production of Typhoid and Haemophilus influenzae serotype b (Hib) vaccine. His passion for research made him enroll for a Ph.D. He received his doctorate degree in Life Science from Bangalore University, Karnataka, India for his work on “Studies on High Glucose Induced Oxidative Stress in Cardiomyocytes, H9c2 Cells: Intervention of Trolox an Analogue of Vitamin E” under the guidance of Prof. M.V.V. Subramanyam. Later he joined Dr. Sanjay Kumar’s lab at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India for his postdoctoral research studies. There he was working on understanding the molecular signaling mechanisms of ovarian cancer occurrence, disease progression, and the role of mitochondrial dynamics and energetics in cancer. Later he joined Prof. Florin Despa’s research lab, University of Kentucky, where he is working on understanding the diabetes associated change in metabolites especially in the brain and its associated neuronal complications. He will be working with various rodent models and cell lines. Apart from lab work, Ravi keeps himself involved in reading novels, doing yoga, running, playing cricket, badminton, traveling, photography, and gardening.
